Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun are going to test their luck this summer. Let's have a look into it.
Tollywood is full of superstars, no doubt in that. But when Megastar Chiranjeevi entered politics and left movies in 2007, there was no one to take his crown which he had left. Tollywood didn't find a hero like Chiru, who could score back to back hits frequently. In 2009 Ram Charan hit the bulls-eye with Magadheera and Mega fans expected him to occupy the vacant no.1 spot. But later he did many films which failed to recreate the magic of Magadheera. His impact gradually decreased and he found it difficult to match up with the top league.
In 2011 Mahesh scored blockbuster with Dookudu, which ended his flop-run after Pokiri. Later he scored two more hits with Businessman and SVSC. When he was just a few steps away from clinching the no.1 spot, he failed with 1:Nenokkadine and Aagadu. Though the former got good reviews, it failed to leave an impression among the Telugu audience. Later he came strong with Srimanthudu which created ripples at the box-office. So, as of now he again stands at the same place, where he was after the success of SVSC. With Brahmotsavam he has a golden chance of scoring another blockbuster which would in turn place him ahead in the no.1 race. But Pawan's Sardaar Gabbar Singh will become a threat if it stands as a blockbuster.
Prabhas, who entered into top-6 with his Mirchi, waited for 3 years and shattered the records of Indian film industry. As of now, there are no releases except Baahubali: The Conclusion. But Baahubali won't find him a place in the top slot as most of the credits would go to Rajamouli. Prabhas has to prove that he is a money spinner out side Baahubali. If he manages to do that, then he will be a tough competitor to Mahesh and Pawan.
Jr. NTR who usually doesn't score back to back hits, could finally do it with his recent films; Temper and Nannaku Prematho. But still he has a long distance to travel as he desperately needs a blockbuster to be a contender for the top slot. Allu Arjun, who is regarded as a dark horse in this race, is making his chances more brighter with every film. He needs to bring a tide to shake the box-office. Hope Sarrainodu will do that.
Pawan, who waited for more than 10 years for a hit, announced his entry into the top league with blockbuster-hit Gabbar Singh. Later Attarintiki Daredi broke the records of Magadheera and became an industry hit. With his commercial success and Mahesh's back to back flops, he almost claimed the no.1 spot. Later his movie life came to a pause as he entered politics. Now he is coming with Sarddar Gabbarsingh that too after 3 years which is a sequel of Gabbar Singh. If he manages to replicate the success of Attarintiki Daaredi and break the record of Srimanthudu, he will become the no.1 hero.
There is a lot of entertainment awaiting us. Hope all these movies manage to break records and increase the worth of Telugu movie industry across India.
