Who is the Tollywood's super star of the decade?

The decade 2010 has really been one of the most evolutionary decades for TFI and there is no doubt about it. This decade we have seen the focus and the direction of this industry going from star-power to content-power. Movies like Arjun Reddy, Manam, Eega, C/O Kancharapalem , Agent Sai Srinivasa Atreya, Guru, Goodachari, Drushyam were outstandingly appreciated by the audiences and very well received at the box office. And how can one forget the path breaking “Baahubali” franchise which didn’t only make its mark in India but also in the world. This decade we also saw the rise of the female-centric movies and its uproar at the box office.  Movies like Mahanati, Ye Maya Chesave, Fidaa, Bhaagamathie, Oh Baby with actresses at the helm did wonders at the box office. Few of these movies bought better business to TFI than the notable male stars.

As the 2010 decade is about to end; we are seeing lots of lists like the best movies of this decade, best performances of the decade, forgettable movies of the decade and so on.  But on our site we have decided to do something different and would want to present you our star performance meter or in -short the “Star-Form” meter , which will tell you in numbers how this decade has gone by for each our beloved TFI stars. So lets get in :

Pawan Kalyan  - High Hopes Low content

In the first half of this decade with movies like Gabbar Singh, Attarintiki Daredi, Gopala Gopala ; the second half seemed more promising but due to lack of balance between acting and political career it felt like PK had lost his way. With back to back disasters in the later half the fans were left dejected but still loyal to him. If PK finds a right script and a right movie; there is no doubt that there will only be a few records unbroken. But that right movie as of now seems a mystery.  With 4 out of 10 films being hit/average he gets 31%.

Star-Form : 31%

Mahesh Babu - When experimentation hits on your face

Mahesh Babu was one of those stars who wanted to do experimentation and bring something new to the TFI but unfortunately failed. Movies like 1 : Nenokkadine and Khaleja which were good also turned out to be disastrous. Often it is said fortune favours the brave but atleast 2010 decade didn’t favour him much in this experimentation. With a good start with movies like Dookudu, Businessman and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and after a disastrous mid innings (except Srimanthudu) he again gained form in the end with movies Bharat Ane Nenu and Maharshi doing relatively good at the box office. Hope this form continuous and he again gets the courage to experiment again. With 6 out of 11 films being hit/average he gets 43%.

Star-Form : 43%

Ram Charan – A matured star in the making

After lots of hits and misses throughout and after lots of questions on his talent being raised RC finally made his point with movies like Dhruva and Rangasthalam. Everyone now understands that RC can act and act brilliantly. It’s now onto him how he is gonna select his movies and what would be his roles ahead. Hope he doesn’t make a 2nd Vinaya Vidheya Rama and understands what his audiences expect of him now. With 5 out of 10 films being hit/average he gets 44%.

Star – Form : 44%

Allu Arjun – The mid innings batsman

With a crooked start to this decade; he managed to turn things around in the mid decade and for sometime it felt he could be the invincible after his back to back super hits with Julayi, Race Gurram, S/O Satyamurthy, Sarrainodu. But then this shine started to dim with DJ and Naa Peru Surya. It will be very interesting to see what would be in store for Allu Arjun Next decade. With 5 out of 10 films being hit/average he gets 46%.

Star – Form : 46%

Jr NTR – Consistent but blockbuster movie not found

Arguably the most talented Hero present in TFI but the same doesn’t reflect in his box office numbers. It might be because of the same genre of acting roles which he prefers, his audience range isn’t expanding.  Though looks consistent with the movies like Adhurs, Brindavanam, Dhammu, Baadshah, Temper, Nannaku Prematho, Janatha Garage, Jai Lava Kusa and Aravindha Sametha, that blockbuster has still not been attained. But the next decade ; atleast the start seems promising and hope he finds that blockbuster movie in his portfolio. With 10 out of 13 films being hit/average he gets 49%.

Star-Form : 49%

Prabhas - A Decade to Remember

Leave alone TFI, Prabhas right now has become the darling of entire Indian film industry. His hardwork and focus for Baahubali franchise has made him win lots of respect and appreciation from the entire country. This aspect can be easily observed in the performance of Saaho where the film did very well in Hindi market when compared to the South market. Apart from Baahubali,  he has had great success with movies like Mr. Perfect, Mirchi and Darling. The nation’s eyes will be on our darling next decade. With 5 out of 7 films being hit/average he gets 70%. Among our top heroes Prabhas with the highest Star - Form gets 'Super Star of the Decade'

Star-Form : 70%

Balakrishna – The unending story of his lions and his memes

After a surprising blockbuster Simha right at the beginning of his career it seemed we would witness Balayya 2.0 but it turned out that Balayya still wants to live in his genre and his imagination. A favourite actor for all his trollers but sometimes it is sad to see a good talented actor being wasted. Turnaround of things seem impossible as of now. Legend and Gautami Putra Satakarni the only other notable mentions, the other movies its better we don’t touch upon. With 4 out of 15 films being hit/average he gets 28%.

Star – Form : 28%

Nagarjuna - Charming but not quite charming on the box office figures

Nagarjuna has had few good movies under his belt like Manam, Soggade Chinni Nayana, Oopiri but again due to weird story selections and disastrous choices like Manmadhudu 2, Kedi , Officer, Bhai his overall figures have taken a toll. His acting prowess has never been a doubt and lets be hopeful he has a great career next decade and picks nice scripts and roles where his reputation doesn’t take a hit like it did in his latest unnecessary movie. With 9 out of 16 films being hit/average he gets 38%.

Star – Form : 38%

Venkatesh - Victory Venky Genre lives on

Venkatesh has had a decent decade with his genre combined with a bit of experimentation. Movies like Venky Mama, Bodyguard, Babu Bangaram and F2 which are kinda Victory Venky Brand have done well along with movies like Drushyam and Guru (experimentation) have done better. With 7 out of 12 films being hit/average he gets 48%. Among our senior heroes victory Venky gets the 'Star of the Decade' with the highest Star - Form rating.

Star – Form : 48%

Naga Chaitanya - Stardom yet to be found

Naga Chaitanya has had success only with the romance kind of genre and whenever he tried to break this genre he has tasted failure. Movies like Ye Maya Chesave, 100% love, Premam, Majili, Rarandoy Veduku Chudham and even Okka Laila Kosam have done well at the box office but when jumped out and did films like Dhada, Autonagar Surya, Yuddham Saranam ; audiences didn’t approve him. In this confusion he is yet to find his star power. Hope he finds his feet firm next decade as he is improving as an actor and a performer. With 9 out of 17 films being hit/average he gets 46%.

Star-Form : 46%

Varun Tej - The finisher

Varun Tej has had a bad start to his career with movies like Mukunda, Loafer, Mister with Kanche being a silver lighting atleast performance wise. But then came Fidaa whose maximum credit goes to Sai Pallavi for her acting but it was brave on his part to accept a role where the hero is a second fiddle. And since then TholipremaF2 and Gaddalakonda Ganesh have been good films in his career and now he seems to have a bright prospect. With 5 out of 9 films being hit/average he gets 47%.

Star-Form : 47%

Vijay Devarakonda - Slogger Of Tollywood – Hit it or Miss it

Vijay Devarakonda’s career has started in the middle of this decade and has had a very interesting pattern at the box office. After every blockbuster movie he finds himself in a disastrous movie. But he has almost become a next youth icon with a great fan base(rowdies) in the making. His Arjun Reddy for sure will be remembered even in the next decade. He can be the one who can give the stars of this industry a run for their money. With 4 out of 8 films being hit/average he gets 50%.

Star- Form : 50%

Nani – Mr Minimum Guarantee

If there’s a star who has taken the max out of this shift in telugu audiences movie preferences; then that star has to be our Natural Star – Nani. Acted in a total 21 films this decade; the most by any notable hero; he has known to be the minimum guarantee actor for the producers. In the middle he has a purple patch with 8 movies performing well on a trot. Had a weak 2018 but again came good with Jersey in 2019. The next decade will be defying for Nani if he stays good with his script selection. With 13 out of 21 films being hit/average he gets 55%. Among 2nd Tier actors, Nani gets 'Star of the decade' with the highest Star - Form

Star-Form : 55%

Special Mention : Chiranjeevi - Back to his own fort

After having a dramatic and unfortunate political career, Chiru decided to jump into his art this decade and finally he did with a tamil remake and with Khaidi No. 150 he did hit the screens with the bang. Pongal eve and the hype around the return of the megastar on silver screen did help and the movie became a big hit. Then came Syeraa Narsimha Reddy; with lots of scepticism around. Though the movie was the highest Telugu grosser of 2019, it did disappoint a bit with the huge pre release terms involved. It didn’t do great in other languages as well. But it did open a lot of excitement for the telugu audiences to see what kind of roles Chiru is gonna dwell into the next decade. The oldest and the mightiest horse has again become the part of the race.

2010 decade has made TFI the most respectable and beloved industry around India and this will encourage our directors and producers to hop into the unknown and make films which leaves the entire nation in awe. TFI has started to do this and as things have happened it feels the 2020 decade is gonna be much better and beautiful.
